17: Getting Onto It!

Did I say I was going to start and finish writing a whole book this week? Was I lying? Not sure! It’s true that I haven’t started writing the aforesaid promised book yet but, hey, it’s only Tuesday – I’ve still got a whole week left, before I return to my day job next Tuesday!Continue reading “17: Getting Onto It!”

Corrugated

Hands. Skin of middle-age – corrugated. Not quite attractive, but just enough, to keep the rain out – to keep the muscles, and the bones, inside, but not enough, to prevent the veins from bobbling on out of my me-ness.   Copyright owned by Jay Cool, March 2019   Image by RonPorter, courtesy ofContinue reading “Corrugated”

A Continental Appearance

Wearing last Friday’s incontinence pad, he ambles on into a game-playing cafe in Colchester, thinking to play with the crowds. The crowds, thinking otherwise, disperse and exit. Out in the streets of a Roman stronghold, a centurion gives his orders, and the games continue; continental soldiers, with drip-drying-dangly bits, and wiped-with-shared-sponges bottoms, being impervious.  Continue reading “A Continental Appearance”

Monday Thoughts

On Monday, I tried to avoid Tuesday. So many things to do, work-related things, on Monday, today, my day off work!   On Monday, I did Tuesday’s work, thinking to get it out of the way, dispose of it, to make Tuesday, my work-day,  better!   On Monday, Tuesday’s work done, I popped anContinue reading “Monday Thoughts”

Carsuming

Your car consumes me. I get in and it rolls backwards down the drive before I’ve even shut the door, trying to take me with it, trying to swallow me, but failing. Failure rises up from the floor, trying to nip me, trying to grab another chance to mix me in with its tides ofContinue reading “Carsuming”

Ecstabeing

If being okay, calm and mellow, they think, is to be well. Then, to be well, I think, is to be a well being. To measure my own wellness, being a being, I pinch my skin; it feels like flesh, only mildy hairy, threaded through with purple veins and sprinkled over with freckles – easilyContinue reading “Ecstabeing”

Existence

Image courtesy of Pixabay.com At night, I dive into whirlpools, slip-sliding and twizzling round and down, round and down, on pillow-seat into the depths and the coils of my mattress springs. At night, I spring into life, into my real existence, into my mortal world. If my mother were to meet me here, would sheContinue reading “Existence”
